More R&D! So, when I got back from my last business trip, I had a dilemma. My skin was very dry (19 hours of airplane will do that) but I wanted to put on makeup to go see one of my friend's bands. Eye shadow is BAD in those conditions because my dry eyes look REALLY OLD with eyeshadow on. So, I actually grabbed a tube of chapstick (that was slightly purple) from the back of my makeup drawer and used that for eyeshadow.
Of course, per Lighten Up 2008 initiatives, I now felt compelled to try to make something like this myself without all of the chemical crap in it. And here are some pics from the first effort. Actually, technically the 2 tubes on the far left below are from the 1st effort. The jar (above), and the green here, are phase 2. The brown is phase 3. BTW, note the fabulous BLOCK of beeswax in the back? Lovely, local honey suppliers sell that about 5 miles from my house.
Just for the record, the grey is a failed attempt at color. But it represents 2 important lessons. 1) Make sure that whatever you're using for color actually dissolves in oil - not just suspends. 2) Don't try to color the oil/wax mixture. It is ridiculously difficult!
And for those of you who question my sanity with the green, remember that green counters the red in the darkness around my eyes! And it really doesn't show up much anyway, as you can see here. That is grey, green, and brown on my hand. Yeah, you really can't tell.
So the next batch will use a different base oil, since I would like Ms. PL to beta test for me and she can't use coconut oil based stuff. Then I have to figure out other colors - brown was EASY but I doubt they'll all be that way - and send you all some samples. Edible eyeshadow! Who knew?

Makes since actually. Since you possibly absorb some if it through the mucus membranes around your eye. Ie colored eye (ahem) residue when you use eyeliner too close to the eye on the lid. You may be brilliant
Brilliant, I would doubt. But I definitely wanted something that I had not seen in the store....
The cool thing is that I can use all my other R&D in this. So I infused the oil with licorice root to counter dark circles, for example, because I know about that!
Ok, well, I can see only the brown on your hand. Do the green and gray really show up?
The green is very faint - right next to the brown - on my monitor. The grey isn't really a color at all, though....
