As you all know by now, I spent the last 8 days in the Ommi 60th birthday block party zone. It was quite an event with good food, good music (if I do say so myself), and lots of good folks. 3000 miles (round trip), one CAVU show, and one very surprised Ommi later, I'm back home with a few updates.
Although I've said this before, I really believe that this is the end of my "one week a month away from home" stage. For the last 13 months, I've averaged a week a month on the road somewhere. It doesn't even sound like much to me when I write it, but WOW! it was much harder than I expected.
Next time I have to do much traveling, I will require 2 assistants - one to book my trips, arrange for hotels, meals and transportation, and let me generally avoid all of the details of life on the road while trying to work; and the other to deal with the piles of mail, errands and laundry at home that generally result from me bring gone for a week. HTH had the house cleaned, the mail sorted, and some food in the house when I got back this time, but, as the small business boss, it really isn't the best use of his time. [Not that I'm not grateful, you understand! ;)] Two assistants, I tell you!
I really did start part time work this week. I didn't work yesterday and I won't work Friday. I do have a few early meetings this week - earlier than my calendar will allow in the future - but I'll just compensate by taking off early on those days. Current plan is Tuesday through Thursday, 7 am - 2 pm for a total of 20 hours (assuming some lunch time there). I'm hoping that schedule will stick - since it is my favorite - but understand that it might become a Monday through Wednesday thing instead.
I do have a series of tasks that are currently assigned to me in this job. I'm not sure if that will be the actual job I'll be doing or if that will change in the next few weeks. I'm not thinking about it much at the moment - just gogging along.
I do have a bit of a travel cold, so I probably won't get back to posting for a day or two. But we'll return to your regularly scheduled programming then...

It does feel strange to contemplate the 3 day work week, but I think I'll get used to it! ;)
