Lighten Up: The basics

So far this year, I've focused on a few basic ideas of sustainable living. I've taken very small steps along the paths that those ideas indicate. And I've been paying attention to what happens as a result.

So, just as a reminder, here are the ideas that started the whole Lighten Up thing:

• I want to be less involved with the oil/petroleum producing industries.
• I want to be a wiser consumer.
• I want life to be less expensive, not more.
• Overall and long term. It may not be true item by item or day by day.

Although it is hard to remember with any certainty, I think that this is where I started! Just a few ideas that - 6 months later - have already changed my life!

Of course, from these 3 ideas to the current state of affairs is really all about the Ripples. I'm still trying to figure out how to break this story down for you, but should have something by tomorrow!

BTW, you'll see that the countdown is gone. I do have official word that I'll be transitioning between now and July 18 and then part time after that. There is still a possibility that it won't work - considering the factors involved - but I think I'll be keeping my job for a bit at least!
