I haven't posted about this stuff in a while, so I thought I'd let you see my new whistles.
One of the real advantages of playing a simple instrument is that you can get high quality, hand crafted instruments for relatively cheap.
The copper ones are from Nick Metcalf at Ethnic Wind. The 3 large ones are a set with one mouthpiece in F, G and A. (Low G sound clip here.) Although they share the same mouthpiece, each one has slightly different tonal qualities. I think they'll be a lot of fun! The tiny one is a Micro G - an octive higher than the G body next to it! (Soundclip)
The aluminum ones up top are Syn Whistles by Erle Bartlett. That is a C (clip), D (clip) and E flat set. They also sound amazing. He's from Australia, so that is where these guys came from. Not terribly green of me, but really, folks, this is the musician in me talking. No way you can argue with that kind of effortless quality sound and playability!
So, here are the new additions to my collection. Lovely, huh? Obviously, much whistling has been going on around here lately!

why are aluminum penny whistles non green?
Well, some of them remind me of your dad sitting with a small blowtorch in the dark, cold house last year. I think you will enjoy using yours lots more.
It isn't the aluminum so much as the shipping from Australia that isn't that great for my anti-petrol mindset....
